My favorite part of broadcast journalism is anchoring news. I have been fortunate to anchor a lot and with very talented people. In fact, one newscast I anchored won best newscast in the 2020 Spring MSPA Carry-In Awards. That was a big accomplishment for me, because I had only just begun anchoring.
Two years ago, a newscast I anchored placed second in an international competition through the Quill and Scroll International Honor Society for High School Journalists. One big challenge was anchoring live editions of our weekly newscast, but it payed off in the end.
I also have anchored our newscast sports and weather segments, but I focus mainly on and prefer anchoring the news.
