NEWS GATHERING

I am one of the student leaders in St. Joseph Catholic School's student media program. While I lead the planning of every newscast and do a lot of anchor work, I also have reported and edited news packages for our Bruin News Now newscast. I have worked in partnership with other students and also put together my own packages. My favorite is a feature package that took a look at what happens behind-the-scenes at BNN as our staff plans and produces our weekly newscasts.

Below you can find a selection of video packages I produced, and I also have the links in case the videos don't work.

1. This story is about the Pre-K 3 program that began at St. Anthony Catholic School. I put this together in 2019.

2. This behind-the-scenes story from November 2021 shows all of the work that goes into making a newscast. It was something that I had been wanting to do for a while, and I think it turned out pretty cool. The video and link are the full edition of the newscast, which I anchored.

Earlier this year I was fortunate enough to participate in the first ever WTHS-BNN collaboration. We covered the inauguration of Governor Tate Reeves, and not only did I learn more about the state's government, but also how to work quickly and adapt coverage. Stories changed day off, emphasizing that not everything can be planned for. I had a lot of fun working with Thomas Roper on this production, and I hope you enjoy.
